Your site encrypts every backup part with a unique key before uploading it. Our storage never sees your files unencrypted.

By default a copy of that key is stored safely on our server so one-click restore works even if your site is gone. You can choose passphrase mode instead: then only you hold the key, and if you lose the passphrase the backups cannot be recovered.
