Downtime opens an incident automatically and closes it when the monitor recovers. On paid plans you can also post incidents by hand and add updates as you learn more: Investigating, Identified, Monitoring, Resolved.

Schedule maintenance ahead of time with a start and end time. Monitors on that status page will not send alerts during the window, and visitors see a maintenance notice.
